Tom Ford Grey Vetiver Fragrance for Men

September 30, 2009 Filed in: Cologne

Tom Ford Grey Vetiver FragranceThe new Tom Ford Grey Vetiver cologne for men, just released, is my most recent fragrance. Loved by many, this new fragrance has received stellar reviews.

Never judge a fragrance at first spray, especially this one. I didn’t particularly like it until it settled into it’s base notes and mixed with my natural aroma. A very unique cologne, the Grey Vetiver is calm with a professional masculinity. I would definitely wear it to an interview, the office, and even church. I think this aroma exhibits confidence, seriousness, and grown-upness (yeah, that’s actually a word).

I would classify Grey Vetiver as day-wear, or professional fragrance, for times when you want be taken seriously and not confuse the situation by arousing others with a playful scent. This is not one that I would wear to meet women unless it’s a strictly professional setting – or the woman is only looking for a professional type of mate. However, reviews of women suggest they love this cologne. Ford describes the fragrance as “the equivalent of the classic blue blazer, the beautiful watch, or the cap-toes shoe” and fitted for “someone who has a slightly traditional sense of what it means to be a man”, which basically sums up my opinion of being a scent for grownup businesslike men.

Tom Ford Grey Vetiver Notes

Top Notes

At first spray, Grey Vetiver emits fresh sparkling orange flower and grapefruit notes. Sage develops the masculine scent with warm woods.

Middle Notes

Orris, a highly valued fragrance, creates warmth and comfort while teaming with spicy nutmeg and pimiento then blending with sun drenched citrus, refined spices, and rich woods.

Base Notes or Dry Down

The main ingredient, vetiver extract, unfolds with the rich blending of a wash of golden, warm amber woods. Oakmoss enhances the green and woodsy aroma which deters an overbearing earthy or pungent scent.

Following the dry down period, Tom Ford Grey Vetiver results in a very desireable fragrance. I’m not typically a very serious guy, but Tom Ford has given me a different outlook. For me, it was an acquired taste, and now I love it. All in all, this another AMJ approved cologne. I recommend it, as do many women.

This fragrance is so new that I could only find it for sale here.

Peace,
Trent
